They are just scared idiots who are worried about the future of the world and instead of admitting that their is gray to the world they have taken an easy answer of saying the “other option” (because black and white is all people can think in) was perfect and that they could be 100% happy and never complain about anything ever cause surely communism would be perfect.

They are happy to ignore the rough edges because they aren’t actually living it. Not to say it couldn’t be a better system but that it would be one that needs work and effort to be best to its citizens.

Both capitalism and communism arrested its citizens for dissenting against the system they were in but this seems fucking ignorant of reality from people who put in half a thought on this at best.

If there is ‘gray to the world’ does that mean you accept that there must be a positive as well as a negative side to the USSR?

        Duh.

It’s not hard to accept that there was good and sometimes great things happening in any place with negatives broadly and blatantly to be said about it.

Look at the scientific and biological advancements made by the Nazis as the most egregious and obvious one… We learned how to save people from hypothermia thanks to war crimes… We still haven’t figured out how to come to terms with the fact that we really want the information but the way it was gotten was terrible.

Nothing is in a vacuum. The USSR joined communities and pushed technological and cultural advancements that were quite impressive, but it doesn’t mean they are perfect or good forever. Same with capitalism, and we can see down the line stagnation of either causes massive issues.

And the people downvoting this shows this is still a hard topic and why Buddhism should be taught more. Impermanence and flaws are natural and change is the only way forward cause everything is always changing whether we want it or not. The best option is to modify and flow with life and change the things you hold dear to work the new real reality.

That’s not how projection works, I could be making a facetious or exaggerated comment but it wouldn’t be projection.

You are arguing like you read someone else arguing like that all the time but don’t actually know what it means or how to use it. You guys literally aren’t putting the critical thoughts into these topics to come at them from a perspective that enables them to be used and adapted for changing needs of people.

This blind reliance on a cookie cutter simple answer for everything and constant self repeating of its perfection misses the point of critical analysis that makes things get better over time. Facing criticism and having a legitimate and thought out answer to it instead of quips and repeatable slam dunk statements leads to legitimate issues being ignored like does happen everywhere.

It’s unfortunately the job of those that come next to find out how to adapt the tools left to them by their ancestors to find new solutions for an ever changing world. It’s patching holes and trying something new. Your stagnation of ideas that this one is perfect (as so many people in here believe, “just don’t say anything bad and nothing bad will happen to you”) restricts and doesn’t allow for that to happen.
