The fact that the only candidates publicly reported so far are the interim and a guy with 1 year of youth coaching experience should indicate the budget available

Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids are considering appointing Jack Wilshere as their new head coach. The former England international, 31, has been coach of Arsenal’s Under-18 team since July 2022 and has made a strong impression, leading them to the 2022–23 FA Youth Cup final in his first season in charge.

The Rapids – owned by the same Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group that own Arsenal – parted ways with former head coach Robin Fraser in September. As revealed in The Athletic’s Ask Ornstein Q&A, the U.S. franchise made a formal approach to Arsenal to speak with Wilshere, who is thought to have impressed in his interview.

Why? Will Still is 30 and doing well with Reims in ligue 1. But the difference is Will started his football coaching training age 24 , video analyst, assistant manager etc so he had somewhat managing experience.

The risk for Wilshere is that the Kroenke’s treat the Rapids like the unwanted stepchild in their empire of sports teams and clubs.

Will Wilshere get the support that he needs?

On the other hand, the Kroenkes seem not to care about Colorado at all, to the point where its probably the worst coaching job in MLS.

Is Jack still smoking regularly? Living/coaching at 1600m might be his best chance at kicking the habit.
