When you say “western”, you mean American, yeah?
More like “vaguely Anglican”
I make the distinction because in some countries they’ve dropped the pretence of “it is god’s will” and just plain gone “we’re greedy and ruthless, but vote for us and you’ll get a nice bonus in the next budget”.
When you say “American” you mean the giant land mass between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans in which 70% of the population are descendants from European colonizers, yeah?
I’m thinking of the USA specifically, where “god” still features in political discourse. And yes, I absolutely mean the European settler-colonial population. Apologies if it sounded like I was including any First Nations people in that.
