Unfortunately I highly doubt it will happen. No player has had their number retired with Montreal without having won a cup. That’s the price to pay for playing for such a storied franchise, the bar is much higher than on any other team and unfortunately The General didn’t reach it. He’ll absolutely be a hall of fame inductee eventually, like Price will, but I doubt either of their number will be retired.
If we retire Markov’s number, then we have to retire Price’s.
