Hello, I’m new to Lemmy (just joined today). I’m coming from Reddit, and so far I’m liking the experience. One thing I would really like to be able to do is block all communities with the words “memes” and “humor” in their names.
I’ve attached a screenshot of what I’ve managed to block so far, but it’s obviously a futile approach because of the sheer amount of meme/joke/humor communities.
Is there any way to do this? It would be great for my own personal sanity. Thanks.
I’d rather ban any political communities and enjoy some memes in this god forsaken times
Cool. I’d rather not see really dumb jokes about serious (or even non-serious) matters, especially in these god-forsaken times.
Incoming political memes
Most of us are drinking from the fire hose, seemingly, but there’s been such a huge growth in Lemmy posting that you can actually just subscribe to the coms you like and set your app to only show the top from your subscriptions as opposed to the top from all federated coms.
That’s what I tried to do at first, but there’s a problem with discovery. I found myself just checking lemmy urls for replacements of subreddits. Then I decided to switch to ‘All’ to discover the actual channels I was interested in, and was inundated with meme channels that I had to explicitly block.
Unngh
I’m always surprised to see people using blacklists; I’m just so used to whitelists.
What if you start out with a blank whitelist?
Alright, this site is absolute shit. I’m going to delete everything.
Nice to see you haven’t blocked !sexmemes yet, but I don’t think there are that many that are so annoying you’d need to wildcard blanket block them.
The fact that I haven’t blocked your’s yet, and that there are so many left to block, only strengthens my argument.
Sure
