Regina Homeless Crisis $8,207 raised of $15,000 goal • 89 donations Share Donate now

Alysia Johnson is organizing this fundraiser. Updated July 5, 2023: Due to emerging priorities and an opportunity to begin housing intakes, this is a bittersweet, timely update.

On a go forward basis, new donations made from July 5th onward will be designated towards the phase 2 housing efforts. That means air mattresses, towels and basic bedding for new tenants in the Neighbors for Neighbors Housing Alliance.

Camp Hope was organized on no budget in 2021, and came together but by the grace of community. I was there since day one with others and a harrowing list of citizen organizers who rose to the challenge. There was no gofundme, but the situation was different the last time we faced it. Things have changed. Sadly, they are far worse. The substances are far more deadly. Ministry supports have collapsed. Workers are burnt out. The social safety net has failed. We — again — are our own last hope.

The Good Trouble Network can be etransferred for day to day Camp needs. They also can avoid the dreaded gofundme fees and surcharges!

^ Time is of the essence and funds will support rapid deployment and enable the entire citizen coalition to get straight to work.

We can receipt all expenditures to July 5 for camp. Going forward we have 9+ volunteers for the housing startup and will be busy organizing next steps! (Hopefully with a few roofs to show for it!)

If you are so able, please support. And please consider making an additional donation to the organizations who do this important work: Carmichael Outreach, NYFC, APSS, John Howard Society, All Nations Hope, Phoenix Residential and more. This community would not function without the tireless efforts of these organizations year-round.

Thank you for giving our community a fighting chance

June 30, 2023 by Alysia Johnson, Organizer Hey everyone! It’s been two weeks now in front of City Hall. I have so many updates I don’t know where to start.

We are waiting on the CBOs to discuss whether they can make use of the 15x33 canopy tent we secured but still have not raised, given the permit we would require. We remain shocked and appalled that more portable toilets have not been placed in areas of high need but given the outcome of the first portable we placed in Pepsi Park, we are hesitant to place more without assurance that city officials will put public health interests first.

Funds have been put to rapid deployment of tents, food, tarps, new socks, new undergarments and harm reduction measures such as tobacco, as well as tobacco for the Elders guiding and watching the plaza.

In any typical day we would deploy $250 - $600 worth of resources for 60-70 people plus many who pass by just for a meal. It’s not uncommon for children to show up from other parts of the City asking if we have any more food.

We have also worked very hard to occasionally have art supplies and sponsor various activities.

Workers from John Howard, Friendship Centre, YWCA, SHA and others check in almost daily. We are doing housing intakes and supporting those relationships with the service providers to the best of our ability.

We also have big news coming down the pipeline, but for now, we really need the community to keep supporting!

Today at 4:00 PM meet the Citizens Coalition at The Cure (Regina) for an event where Houseless People Speak For Themselves.

Much Love xoxo

June 10, 2023 by Alysia Johnson, Organizer Update! Big thank you to everyone who has so generously contributed so far! Our best estimates are that we need $3k to hit the ground running and then roughly $200 a day to keep basic supplies refreshed and fill in gaps, to the best of our ability. We are really close! You need to keep sharing and spreading the word. Our goal buys the community approx 60 days of coordinated, high-level community action.
