How I’m reading those news: “as astroturfing in Twitter becomes unviable, online pulp magazines turn to Reddit. They’re clueless on how to navigate the place and, once they learn how to do it, Reddit Inc. will spoil their fun by finding some way to squeeze them dry, and because Reddit is undergoing the same process as Twitter that makes you uneasy to associate your brand with that place.”

“We had some organic success on Reddit. So we were like, we should start being more intentional,” said Brady Stone

“We found some grassroots there. We should replace it with astroturfing ASAP.”

This is actually one of the main weaknesses of reddit. Was planning to write an article about it. Damn it

Me blocking is the third part. Do you really assume you know what abword starting with TRI means. Bit others don’t? Bitch please

I mean, we aren’t using it in the literal sense here. Literally, a trifecta is when you correctly guess the first three finishers in a race, in the correct order.

Now, if you had a propensity for blocking people who spoke about Elon, and you had a propensity for blocking people who spoke about reddit, and you had a propensity for blocking people who linked to paywalled articles, then you could colloquially say that OP “hit the trifecta”, and “won” a ban.

Offhand, I can’t think of a specific word where two instigating factors invite a specific response. I’m sure there is one, but I am equally sure that word is not “trifecta”.

Something in your head is broken, and I am still 100% fine with you not wrapping your head around my use of the term… but your stunning lack of awareness regarding the plastic nature of the English language is absolutely a stark contrast against your otherwise seemingly well thought out verbiage defending your position.

Yes, Webster, congrats on understanding the origin of the term, being a portmanteau of “triple” and “perfecta”. 100 points for this. You are docked just as many fake points, however, for not being up to speed on the more recent (colloquial) use case where any collection of 3 things, or ideas even, which are said to be complimentary to each other, are said to be a trifecta.

Nobody gives a fuck about horse racing terms. We do love ways to group like items still however.

The best colloquial term for that rant is probably “doubling down”.

You are correct on one thing: I have not heard that phrase used in the manner in which you describe.
