Collins was among the senators who backed Jeb Bush in the 2016 primary but did not endorse Trump in 2020. Murkowski did not vote for Trump in 2020. They and Sens. Mitt Romney and Bill Cassidy, the two other Republicans still in the Senate who voted to convict Trump, are clearly still seeking a GOP candidate they can support.
