“Now, there’s this one thing that keeps puzzlin’ me, Mr. Godzilla… if your shoe size was 500 like you said it was, and you said you weren’t stompin’ over in New York City in 1998… then who else could have a shoe size of 500 stompin’ all over New York City? Couldn’t have been Mecha-Godzilla, nobody’s seen since him since ‘93.”

Peter Falk as the detective Lt. Columbo in the eponymous show. The premise of the show was always a murder investigation. But the murder was always revealed to the audience at the beginning of the episode, so the plot of the episodes focused on how Columbo was able to figure out the perpetrator. He always asked seemingly unimportant questions and often had the catchphrase “Just one more thing” right before he’d seemingly give up further pursuit on a target. Besides the crimes being perpetrated at the beginning, Columbo was never really involved in any chase or fight scenes, always just using wits and sharp dialogue to solve the mysteries.

This four panel plays on that, stopping the rampage of Godzilla with a seemingly inane question, that would likely lead to its eventual arrest after admitting to their wrong doings and turning themselves over to law enforcement.
