I don’t feel pity for Amazon, but I fear that this will cause Amazon to crack down on their return policy. I quite like how easy it is to return Amazon purchases.

That’s one of the main reasons why online shopping became common. People have probably forgotten how risky and time consuming it used to be before Amazon prime.

PayPal also helps a lot imo. Got quite some refunds through PayPal litigations when a package got lost and the seller wouldn’t hear any of it or make the proper reclamations to the postal services

Credit card networks have had these dispute programmes for a while now as well. PayPal’s biggest win is successfully convincing a generation that paying with your credit card is dangerous and has no consumer protections while paying with the same credit card with PayPal as a middleman is safe.

Not everywhere no. They’re submitted to much more conditions in the EU, I got refunded through PayPal on things that wouldn’t have been refunded by an EU bank.

I’m pretty sure they’ll just pass it onto their customers and poor people will end up getting screwed.
