SimpleX will be integrating payments to the server operators to provide incentives to decentralize the network. He’s using a voucher blockchain system, but that’s what the customer gets. The question is what the customer pays.

Can the customer pay in Monero included in the self-host default packages, or will operators have to provide their own XMR infrastructure? This is a big deal. These are the types of questions you can ask directly at tomorrow (or tonight if you live in asia)’s event.

The SimpleX dev is dropping by Simplified Privacy’s chat to answer community questions. Consider showing up to show Monero love and sway his mind to natively support it with his vendor package bundles.

good luck getting reasons from communists, they are guided by emotions and feelings

All humans are partially guided by feelings. Commies need privacy too. Demonizing others so shallowly often does very little other than create a false sense of security and unity

Never give up on true solidarity folks! We need it now more than ever before

for sure, I hope commies start using Monero, but reasoning with them is not possible

You are reasoning with one in this very comment thread comrade! There are allies everywhere when we begin to see through the illusory divisions of old. I promise you we bleed the same blood and long for the same peace

nice, I hope they realize their whole ideology was founded by bankers and everything they fight for actually strengthens banker owned state centralized power and oppresses every individual

it is usually the young and naive that fall for communism, then after 5 or so years they realize they have been duped and enter the real world of no “free stuff”

    simplex TOS:

We reserve the right to remove such links from the preset servers and disrupt the conversations that send illegal content via our servers, whether they were reported by the users or discovered by our team.

Poberezkin is DOA. Dont’t try to simplify your privacy by using federated platforms. You will be pawned.

I haven’t had the time to look deeper into this but how does that affect anything if you self host or simply choose a different server? The way I understand it, that’s exactly what they’re pushing for here. How is that “federated platforms”?

The control is statistical in nature. It is predictable that most ppl wont move to “selfhost or simply choose a different server”. Privacy of metadata (sooner or later users can be identified) is lost anyway. To prevent users from “selfhost or simply choose a different server” marketing is used addressing, again, a vulnerable part of population plus technical hurdles (design choice). A small number of ppl (you?) will always escape control and manipulation.

If ppl choose the statistically centralized type of federated platform they should at least be aware of the trade-offs. Convenience vs. privacy/blacklisting. If there are only a handfull servers all controlled by the same companies its not even federated, its a marketing gag.

As you “have no time to look deeper into this” we will end the discussion here.

As you “have no time to look deeper into this” we will end the discussion here.

I find the questions you raise very useful, but this tone totally kills the ability to convince anyone.

I tend to think that the ability to simply switch to other servers with a few clicks/taps is a big improvement over the Signal model, where you’re at the mercy of a single company. I agree that until community-run servers emerge (I don’t know the progress on this) and people switch to those, SimpleX-the-company can perform a limited form of statistical surveillance. they can also defederate from any server (I suppose that’s how they would carry out the “disruption” they mention in their terns of service), though that’s something that every server can do.

is there a better architecture that can prevent this? if there is, we should look into that.

I see what you mean, that’s a fair warning. You’re still making me feel like I’m missing something major though. Technical hurdles by design you say?
