Try to keep all US election-posting here.
PSL landslide soon!
Surprise! Google search traffic is spiking in the U.S. for the question “Did Joe Biden drop out?”
funny or sad i cant decide
Pissed off my entire liberal family by telling them idc who wins lmao
Claudia was on my ballot which was pretty cool. I’ve never actually voted until now and this is probably a one time thing but I do like being able to vote for someone I actually like and agree with.
I also wants to see libs mald over people voting 3rd party
If the election of a single person can spell the end of your “democracy,” how democratic really was it in the first place?
Similar train of thought, the other day I was posing a question to someone who can be pretty lib, like, if the republicans are such a terrible fascist threat, why aren’t the powers in charge doing more to suppress them? Instead of just letting them do what they want electorally and being like “we’ll vote them out.” I think I actually got through to them a bit on that specific point. Like existential threat to “democracy”, supposedly, but we’re gonna let em do a popularity contest and get power that “takes away democracy”, what sense does that make.
Considering one of the major candidates didn’t even go through anything resembling a primary process, I am going with “not very”.
Am I right, do I win?
For all Americans here, don’t forget the results don’t matter much, the fight continues and bourgeois democracy will never truly represent you anyway.
I found a YouTube link in your post. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Ugh I wish there was a way both of them could win 🥺💕 I just like them both so much! Best of luck to the both of you 🥰
Whatever the outcome, we can be proud that everyone gave 110% and did their best! Hopefully there won’t be any hard feelings, and they can shake hands with the winner after.
Whatever the outcome, I’m willing to do a reach-around across the isle.
Beyond everything else, this election will finally prove to everyone that Democracy™ works. Burgerlanders will cheer unanimously at the success of the system and realise the true spirit of elections are the twitter accounts they screamed at along the way.
Last night I watched an “election special” episode of This Hour Has 22 Minutes (a Canadian political comedy, I think it’s the only one).
2 things:
Do “democratic voters” not see anything wrong with the “democracy ends if Trump is voted in!” line? Like, if a candidate/party/etc. is so bad that it could spell the end to your country, and your electoral system allows those sorts of politicians to not only have a platform but a real shot at power, shouldn’t you be concerned that the people you are voting for have done nothing to bolster your democratic institutions? How is it so hard to see that saying “he’s the literal devil and must be stopped!”, while doing nothing to protect “democracy” is just political theater and you are being played for fools who must choose which cult to be a part of?
Thing 2:
OMG THINGS ARE SO MUCH WORSE THAN I THOUGHT I know a comedy show cherry picks photos and videos, but do Americans not realize that the cult of personality surrounding two politicians IS NOT NORMAL!? It gives me the same kind of ick I felt when I was a teen visiting a friend’s Pentecostal church, everyone started speaking in tongues as we surrounded the altar (or whatever it’s called) and some middle aged white man put is hand on my shoulder from behind and started praying or chanting or something.
I’m usually psychologically resilient when it comes to Capitalism and empire because I have developed some level of understanding. But the crazy cult gatherings I saw… That gave me feelings of dread and sadness I haven’t experienced in a long time.
On the plus side it did help me see just how far along the empire is towards its collapse into irrelevance… But why do they have nukes? Like damn…
I hope y’all in the usa have a pleasant day, find new comrades to organize with, and experience health, happiness, and safety.
One of my favorite arguments to US election hysterics is to point out that no one in that country thinks the other party should actually exist. Most voters are ideologues focused on “defeating the [opposition party]” based entirely on idpol and vibes. Nearly everyone committed to US politics actually wants a one party system, but cannot seem to form the words to express that directly.
Like, “Do the [opposition party] make the country better?” No? So they shouldn’t be allowed to have power, right? Agreed? Okay, then you have to prevent them from getting power by voting, right? Yes? So voting for the [opposition party] is off the table? Agree? Okay then, in your view, the point of Democracy™ is to maintain a one-party system by choosing Good over Evil. Does it prevent Evil from getting power? No? Does it mitigate Evil from getting power? Sometimes? Would there be less Evil if the [opposition party] didn’t exist? Yes? Then voting is ineffective and the [opposition party] should be banned from politics? Ummmm…
It’s basically a boring reality tv show that they have to advertise everywhere to pump up viewership numbers.
The branches of the US government exist to pass defense budget bills, they might as well go home after.
Hey dont forget funding the CIA… that important too
Not only did this circus happen over the year, it will still continue for several days (weeks?) because counting takes forever.
LETS GO BIDEN #RIDINWITHBIDEN #WRITEINBIDEN
He is the only one who can defeat Trump, you guys convinced me! A vote for Harris is a vote for Trump!
🤣
Will I wake up tomorrow to some meltdown tweets or to some footage of the White House being stormed again
If Trump wins we’re probably gonna see a bunch of lawsuits that get thrown out, but no storming.
RESIST 2.0 merch gonna be hot
I figured his followers would storm something if he loses while the libs will just mean tweet and do nothing against the supposed biggest threat to the world but we’ll see
nah
Whoever wins, I hope the other side doesn’t recognise the result.
My prediction is:
-
If it’s close at all, both sides (of the same ideology) will be rabid
-
If it’s a clear win for Kamala, Trump and co will crow about how it was stolen and use stochastic terrorism and/or try to get the supreme court to give him the election anyway
-
If it’s a clear win for Trump, Kamala and the democratic party will be like, “Welp, shucks, that’s how democracy goes, sometimes you hand over the reigns peacefully to fascism! Guess we have to fight against them in 2022, plz send another $10.” Meanwhile, liberal voters will be like, “Whiplash, wth democratic party, you can’t give in that easy!” And then some people to the left of them will be like, “We told you it would be like this” and they’ll be like, “Oh hey, yeah, you exist. It was your fault that we lost, ‘the left’. How dare you two remaining voters of a left-leaning persuasion in a country ravaged by red scare paranoia vote in fascism!”
Edit: Meant to say 2026 in reference to midterms lol, but the slip there just shows how similar my brain is processing this to being like past elections.

“i don’t think whoever gets to win, or to lose, nor whoever wins or loses, will win. Or lose. Everybody’s going to lose.” - Rousseff, Dilma. When getting couped out of Brazilian presidency.
It’s out of context, but one of my favourite quotes ever. I’ve never seen it translated.
I miss old testament Dilmother.
I don’t expect either side to take it gracefully. Which is probably the desired result, even more distraction for the masses that way.
STOP THE COUNT!!
I’m waiting for Second Thought to cover the aftermath.
