U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday he will temporarily waive tariffs on products from Mexico that fall under the North American free trade agreement, two days after launching a continental trade war.
The announcement did not mention Canada, which is also facing sweeping tariffs on all goods entering the U.S., despite Trump’s commerce secretary saying earlier that both countries would “likely” see a reprieve. It came shortly after Trump levelled new attacks against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau following a heated exchange Wednesday.
“After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement,” Trump wrote on Truth Social following a scheduled call between the two leaders.

Because isn’t there a recent article saying most of Tesla parts are imported from Mexico! Daddy Musk wants them cheap cheap parts.
The tariffs purpose is to damage Canada’s economy in a severely misguided and ignorant plan to annex it.
He saw how the lagging economy ruined Trudeau’s approval ratings and thinks that damaging the economy more will somehow magically make Canadians want to join the US.

The actual US president discovered one of his companies needs parts from Mexico.
He and his circle already made millions on puts and invested the winnings back into a dipping market, now it’s time to ease off the gas to drive the value back up. Repeat every week or two.

idk, Trump doesn’t seem to give two shits about TSLA. The whole presidency doesn’t seem to have been a great deal for Musk at all (assuming he’s not eating out of the treasury or something). xAI doesn’t get AI endorsement and oil industry takes priority over Tesla at every turn.
