Good, about time. Unfortunately this had been going too far for far too long so they had no choice but to act.

Hopefully it will get blocked.

You can blame Paludan and his idiocies for this ever even becoming a potential law in the first place. There were virtually no problems between ethnic Danes and muslims prior to the Quran burnings and the Jyllands-Posten BS in 2006 both of which were not started by muslims.

No I can blame the cowards in parliament and the moronic nutjubs in foreign countries.
And this law basically existed in 2006.

You can blame them if you want but it was Paludan who initiated all of this, not the other way around.

Yeah Paludan initiated a violent mob and Islamic terrorism. Totally not the fault of the people doing the crimes.

You don’t understand how correlations and action-reaction events work. There would be no people doing the crimes without Paludan, at least not in Denmark.

As much as i despise Paludan, i just don’t understand your logic. Violence is never okay. And we should never bow to violence.
So if vegans start attacking butchers, we should outlaw butchers?

what you don’t seem to grasp is that there should be no people doing the crimes no matter if some idiot burns a book or not.

They were doing it before anyone ever heard of him.

You’re missing something, why is Paludan burning the Quran? He didn’t start it. The Muslim terrorists did. And the Muslims suppressing women. And the Muslims executing homosexuals. He just burned a fucking book/drew a picture. They kill people.

Satire is still entirely legal in Denmark and no plans to make comics of Muhammed illegal, furthermore there are probably a 1000 things that can offend the people of the OIC, so Paludan will just keep doing what he has been doing all along…
This law serves no purpose whatsoever.
And there has nearly always been tension between Muslims and ethnic danes. Your statement further down is quite false. What changed in 2006 was that some Muslim groups in Denmark took advantage of the drawings to stir up a lot of hate in other countries by travelling around and displaying the comics (And even some comics which they made themselves). All it did was take the tension to the International level.

Nobody is talking about satire but for the record even satire is not unlimited. If Paludan keeps doing what he is doing, he will be punished under the new law.
Go back pre-2005, there were virtually no tensions between Muslims and ethnic Danes until out of nowhere Jyllands-Posten decided to play pyromaniac firefighters.

Define “no-tensions” ? - As a resident of Denmark and someone who actually read and watched the news in the 90´s I call bullshit. There were plenty of mainly immigrant muslim ghettos around which featured regularly in the news. You seriously have no clue what you are talking about.
And you didnt get what I said about satire… In France, comics were enough to get lots of people killed (Charlie Hebdo). Denmark has no plans to make this illegal… So here I go again - This new law does nothing to stop Paludan. Paludan can provoke in a hundred ways that doesnt violate the law. The law is ridiculous!
How about OIC and its member states does what the danes did when a Muslim took revenge by burning the danish flag and a bible (and a cross, the swedish flag and a LGBTQ flag). We did Nothing!.

The situation in those immgirant ghettos was nowhere near as bad as it is today and overall Islam in Denmark wasn’t a big topic at all in the 1990s.
The OIC has no jurisdiction whatsover in Denmark, they don’t even have jurisdiction to impose laws on Muslim countries as a whole.

Maybe because there are more of them? And not much is done to stop the more radicalized members? You think comics brought the tensions?
OIC *should* have no jurisdiction in Denmark…, yet they are the single largest contributer to the pressure brought to bear on Denmark to make this law.
So I say again, how about they just ignore it as we did, and then Paludan will probably go away like most other impotent bullies.
windchill94 at 2023-08-25 20:27:34+00:00 ID:
jxqqik6
I think comics heavily exacerbated tensions and made them increase tenfold when there were virtually no tensions prior.
No if you ignore Paludan he won’t go away, instead he will get worse and worse like all radicals do. Appeasement towards radicals never works. You know what works? Rules and firmness.

Thats what I say, the radicals in the OIC and muslim community should not be appeased by making this useless law.

It was absolutely not out of nowhere. They tested if free speech was free speech. Lo and behold, it was not.
There was some imported idiots who thought otherwise.

Maybe just maybe because it wasn’t actual free speech. Who gave them the idea to test it and what good were they hoping to achieve by deliberately mocking people and their beliefs? They even had the courage to admit they were explicitly doing it to provoke and taunt. They knew full well that nothing good could come out of it and yet they still went ahead and did it for absolutely no valid reason. If they wanted to actually test free speech, there are a million other smarter ways to do it.
