Pretty wild what those pilots do. They pull of some amazing feats in the worst of conditions.

I was out fighting fires in a remote area, no direct comms so I had to wave down a spotter plane and direct him towards a flare up we couldn’t get equipment to (some went in on foot but sounded like it was getting dicey on the radio).

The spotter dipped his wings at me and soon after a drop plane came in and absolutely nailed the fire. We would have lost control without them, losing another several thousand hectares of thick scrub and opening up yet another fire front.

I bet the pilot is the kind of person who nails throwing their rubbish into the wastepaper basket from across the room every time.

The fact that waiting 1 second could have made the pilot to miss it shows the precision

Do these firefighting aircraft have targeting equipment? Military aircraft can drop “dumb” bombs with relatively good accuracy with timed releases and such that take your speed and attitude into consideration.
