I think my next car will be a cargo bike. LOL

Jokes aside, once you add utility to a bike (any bike), it opens up a whole new world that’s just so much better than driving around angry and frustrated all the time. 😁

      Yes and yes!!

Best thing I did was get a bike with a pannier rack - it’s opened up so much utility and freedom. Really want an eCargo bike but no space to keep one just yet

I don’t have the space (or budget) for a true cargo bike, but both my bikes have front and rear racks, and I have a bike trailer for larger hauls. These inexpensive additions have made replacing most car trips a reality.

By the same token, if my car had no trunk, I’d probably never have a reason to drive it. LOL

By utility, I mean making a bike do more than take you from point a to point b. Adding a rack, for example, is an easy way to add more utility to a bike, since it allows you to carry things you otherwise might not be able to.

When you add more utility, the usefulness of a bike increases to more than just casual riding.

So you know how on motorcycles people have those hard “cases” at the back which close with a flap and keep the contents fully contained?

Yeah, I wish someone made those but for a bicycle. It annoys me having to worry about my stuff falling out of the basket into the road every time I go over a bump.

I use a small bungee cargo net on my baskets. They make them specifically for bike basket size. You can also get basket covers for when it rains!

Panniers may do the trick for you. I’ve also seen some hard cases that attach to the rack.
