Ubuntu…it always come back to ubuntu
Sad so many people are afraid of the content that they down vote.
Bravo
Nope. Not a fork. Someone else posted the link to the F-droid issue bug.
You have to go into settings-> app compatibility-> anti-features -> check the “other anti-features” box.
That fixed it. Thanks!!
100% disagree that “most people” need more than a brick.
It took way to long to see that only these two countries beat their target.
Do you have to add a Repo? I can’t find it…
Eh. If you look over the mod log for the months before the incident, it makes sense why they just started banning anyone with negative interactions. People were just dropping in to harass them.
Also, some social media spaces are closed for most - i.e. you can only read and not comment unless you’ve been approved…
Fair. I don’t really care either way, but do feel like mods of communities like that have a hard job. I wouldn’t sign up to do it.
Your equivalency is not great. If you told me I was banned on !genv@lemmy.world (saw in the trending communities) I wouldn’t even spend the time to find of if it was true.
B/c this is just the tip of the iceberg, What?
b/c a stitch in time saves nine and all that jazz What’s the bigger problem?
Personally, I think it justifies their choices. Not that I would have made the same choices in their shoes. They are just getting shit on left and right by random people that would never take the time to even honestly engage, but just believe they are terrible for personal choices.
I don’t understand why most people even care. They would have never know this community existed except for for this post.
Windows is never responsible for this. It is errors in the EC code or BIOS wake timers. When you click shutdown, the system is powered off. Windows hands off execution to Bios code for shutdown after the cycling dots saying “shutdown”.
Technically, none of those examples is built in obsolescence. It works the same as the day you bought it without those features. It may not live upto what you want, but that is not built in obsolescence.
I think you mean the consumer. Odds are that your last cell phone still worked, but “the consumer” wanted newer features, faster interfaces, new security, longer battery life, new OS, etc. At this point, the obsolescence is almost entirely in the mind of the consumer
Those reports might effect investments from the smaller players, but the big names(Google, Microsoft, Meta, etc.) are locked in a race to the finish line. So their investments will continue until one of them reaches the goal…[insert sunk cost fallacy here]…and I think we’re at least 1-2 years from there.
Edit: posted too soon
They don’t build the chips at all. They pay tsmc.
Couldn’t agree more. There is quite a bit of AI vaporware but NVIDIA is the real stuff and will weather whatever storm comes with ease.
but I believe that’s not correct anymore.
Why do you believe that? As far as I understand, other HW exists…but no SW to run on it…
If you don’t know who Mark Kelly is, you’ve been living under a rock and likely don’t read much. Kelly has made national headlines countless times.
As far fetched as it is, It seems like the conversations about colonizing other worlds is reinforcing and driving these ideas forward.
