Thanks for letting me know! This should now be fixed to open in a new tab.
In case you missed it - I have just posted the survey for our 2024 census: https://lemmy.nz/post/23814399
I was reading (admittedly just the article title…) about how over 50% of voters support the government’s plan to boot opposition MPs out of parliament for weeks. It made me wonder what context they give people before asking.
If the question was phrased “Do you support a punishment for Te Pāti Māori MPs that is 7 times harsher than the most severe punishment ever handed down in parliament?” do you think people would still support the governments’ actions?
Many of the .ee communities are in the process of migrating, so hopefully the list can be updated with their new homes.
But then it’s not a burger, it’s a pile of food presented as a stack.
I’m pretty sure my Dad got the idea for growing bananas from someone he knew successfully growing them in Taranaki, but it does seem pretty tricky that far south. I was also the one who eventually had to dig the plant out, would not recommend.
That plantation you linked looks awesome!
Though I’ll try not to think too hard about why you might be able to grow tropical fruit in NZ now when you couldn’t before. I’m guessing over time we will see this possible further and further south.
It was hard to think of an example! I just thought if I lay my dog on his back, then folded each leg in, then bent forward in half, I reckon he’d look something like at attempt at folding a fitted sheet.
I just fold it like you’re folding a… dog? pillow? It doesn’t look like a normal folded item but an outside observer can tell that folding is what was attempted, and I think that’s what counts.
My Dad could grow bananas in Taranaki, though they always used to start to fruit just before winter and then they would rot on the plant so I guess that doesn’t really count.
The coffee place is this one: https://www.ikaruscoffee.co.nz/nz-grown-coffee--tea.html
I’ve wanted to try it since I learned about it a couple of years back, but I don’t think I can justify the price.
The parents are the overstayers. It’s intentional on the part of the parents, the point of the article is that we react to this by punishing the kids, who didn’t decide to be born here.
Ah that makes sense. I’m not using it enough to notice the subtle changes over time.
Yeah I hear you can grow coffee up your way, must be tropical!
Ah, I am way off then 😅
Wow, that feels late for chrysalises! Our were all gone a month back. Terrible weather here so it was lucky they were.
I wish I knew about the fitted sheet performance! I have good reach but don’t think I can do a good job. But I’m not sure where the bar is, maybe my attempts are pretty decent comparatively.
Happy Birthday! And congratulations to Dave! Lemmy.nz is one of my favourite things in the internet.
Aww that’s awesome 🙂
Ah yes I wondered if it was like that. I feel like it would be weird doing it like that, I’m so used to sims sliding in!
I was writing a comment about how miss the “Top” sorting options. Then I check and there they are. I’m sure they weren’t there not that long ago, which kinda proves your point 😅
One of my favourites that I haven’t seen mentioned is the Todo.txt extension.
It adds a todo list in the tray synced to a couple of files (that I store in Nextcloud). I add things I need to do to the list, and I also play with the settings so it colours by priority and sorts by priority.
I also use the ntodotxt app on my phone to sync items. The app is fine but I really like the gnome extension, very handy.
Well it was the API changes; and the general fuckery that drove me to look for an alternative.
Yep that’s most of us.
Thinking about it, I haven’t been back to Reddit for over year now.
Other than finding search results to my technical questions, I’m the same. I haven’t doom scrolled reddit since Relay for Reddit shut down maybe 18 months back.
Edit: Oh shit they went subscription based! The app still lives! Still not going back though 😆
