Itâs a great story executed well that happens to be set in the Star Wars universe. Thatâs what we need more of.
Yeah if weâre going to live in a world of franchises we better demand stories like this rather than the all too common paint by numbers presentation of the IP version.
My favorite series since breaking bad, and it has absolutely nothing to do with being star wars
The only kinda Star-Warsy thing about it was the cute droid, but he was just a minor character.
That and realism. Itâs a pretty big departure from the bigger than life, fantasy stories of most Star Wars. Shows an honest portrait of how utterly brutal life is in the Galaxy for the regular people on both sides. Andor living in a PK Dick like dystopia, and LT Dedra in the ISB knowing failure is death like âTinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spyâ in space.
And you love and hate every character.
Except B2. Everybody loves B2.
It is the first Disney EU story thatâs as good as the original EU stories. Most of the Disney stuff feels like Disney stuff. Andor is gritty like the original EU.
I donât love star wars. But the first minutes of the first Andor episodes had me hooked
The way itâs filmed is incredible. It makes me feel like I was there. I can suspend disbelief of whether a heist or other hijinks were realistic because itâs a fictional universe and canât know it would work anyways. All the broad strokes of the universe have been fleshed out so nobody has to explain backstory or too much world building.
All the camera angles are from a human perspective, hardly any sweeping drone like shots. Just a view of what itâs like to be there. I loved it l. I canât wait for more like this.
Incredibly low bar there
If it wasnât for Succession, Andor would have been the best overall show in several years. Easily best new drama, tied with Severance.
Not sure if it was because of the hype but I found it underwhelming and a bit slow, like it was mostly build up.
