So I considering switching to Piped, but I’m wondering if the views (or other metrics) are counted on Youtube itself. I don’t like the idea I’m kinda “robbing” the content creators I enjoy…

I think I know the answer but would like to know for sure.

If you aren’t watching ads or going through youtube red then you aren’t directly contributing financially to the creators even if it does count.

I’d argue it’s worth it though, since you are a tiny drop in the view bucket

Of course, direct support is always better than the fraction of a penny you give them through ads

True, and I’ll probably join Patreon for select few, but it still feels a little dirty.

Yay for science. Is it possible that it would be on a delay? Probably not but I have no idea how this works so I rather ask.

Nah, if there is a delay it’s very minor, I’ve uploaded videos and had views showing up within minutes

I’ve let it play for more than one minute through Piped, let’s see what happens.

Great idea, thanks for doing the experiment.

Played most of the vid, doesn’t seem like it’d register though.
