The Swedish government circulated an options paper seeking member states’ guidance on some of the most controversial points of the new data law, namely the SMEs exemption, B2G data sharing and trade secrets.

The Data Act is a landmark legislative proposal to regulate data sharing. The previous Czech presidency advanced the file, but some critical issues remain open.

As the turn of the year saw the Swedes take over at the helm of the EU Council for the next six months, Stockholm asked the other countries for feedback on the most critical pending issues.
