I’m looking to try a psychedelic but most seem at best to have blunted effects while on SSRIs or at worst be dangerous to take at the same time. It looks like ketamine might be relatively safe, but I’m looking for others that might be safe too.

Honestly the whole blunted effects are really not all that blunted, visuals are still definitely there (especially if you consume cannabis at any point, though I’d also caution against for your first time, and suggest being cautious if you choose to smoke it during the experience even if you do smoke it regularly)

It would be useful to know which SSRI you’re talking about to gauge possible contraindications…

LSD and mushroom are both safe with Sertraline (Zoloft)

Mescaline should also typically be fine.

DMT will have heavily blunted effects, so likely not with the effort.

Major contraindications for psychedelics are MAOIs, Lithium, and possibly tricyclic antidepressants (though the I could be misremembering the last one).

DXM is a 50/50, slight risk of Serotonin syndrome at higher doses if also on medications which are metabolized by the same enzyme pathways

DXM is a hard no. Had an episode involving a single tablespoon, SSRIs and a glass of juice I didn’t know contained grapefruit. Dangerous dissasociation.

Ah, yeah grapefruit is an explicit issue with things, without that as part of the mix there’s a chance that it would’ve been fine or you would’ve still had an issue, which is why I said 50/50, I’ve also had probably 30-40ml with little ill effects whilst on sertraline.

There’s also the other problem of different metabolites binding to different receptors which complicates working out what the interaction may have been
