Hi all, I am evaluating a few questions for my own personal style but have realized that this is a difficult thing !
I am new to finding my own personal style (typically have just had hand me down tshirts, etc and buy clothes from Amazon/TJ Maxx/thrifting without really thinking deeply about my own style). I have recently bought and returned a couple of things from online stores.
As I am browsing through these subreddits, I have found a wealth of information in regards to how some people approach personal style, but knowing myself, I know that the best way for me to learn about a topic is to get real humans to share their experience, so I figured I’d write a post about this and ask reddit for feedback!
Here’s a list of questions that I came up with as I was thinking of how one gets to find their style (feel free to criticize, give feedback and add more relevant questions:
- How do you find your style? (Asking for help here, just getting more curious in general, I typically go with basics first and stick to that, I don’t really add any room for risk as I have been a bit clunky in dressing, it just feels awkward for me)
- How often do you currently go through instagram/magazines/tiktok to find the right style ? (This is what I currently do and what was suggested to me, if you have any other tricks/tips pls share! )
- What is the current experience like buying/returning things ? Do you have a ton of returns? Is this is a huge pain point ? (It is for me !! Returning things, either they do not fit exactly as modeled or the color is a bit different, or looks good on model but not on me, could be a variety of reasons. Curious on what redditors think about this)
- What is the most difficult thing about finding the right style from your perspective ? Why? (To me its a mixture of fit and style, most of my friends that I speak with share similar experiences)
- Why is it important to you personally to find the right style or fit? (Fit and style is everything no?)
Thank you for this wonderful subreddit! I have learned a ton by lurking here, browsing through user posts, reading a ton of upvoted comments, but I still feel like I am missing the spot. If you have any
tldr; how do you find your own style and what are the difficulties associated with that path?
