So after reading the player’s guide for Sky King’s Tomb I got really hyped for it as a potential player. Especially the section on the darkness. I started imagining a gritty Darklands game where managing light would be key both in combat and to avoid ambushes / set up our own. I imagined playing as a dwarven ranger delving into the Darklands to discover secrets locked away in forgotten dungeons and returning with rare flora, fauna, and minerals needed by the people of Highhelm.
Then (and this is the spoiler bit) I did a little investigating and learned the first book mostly takes place in Highhelm. Now this is fine. I would have preferred it to be more of a safe haven you return to when you need to rest, but I can handle never going into the Darklands for one book. So, to figure out if I’m hyping this AP up in my mind and headed for disappoint, I would like to know the following with minimal spoilers:
Does the Darklands feature more heavily in the second book? is the “mostly in Highhelm“ an exaggeration and you actually do leave the city on quests and then return to complete them? Are there at least “dungeons” within Highhelm with traps and treasure and maybe puzzles in part 1?
