Instead of focusing on bad news, why don’t we share some good YouTube channels made by LBGTQ+ creators to celebrate them?

Let’s share what you watch and why! I will start:

Alexis and Lilian https://www.youtube.com/@AlexisLilian/videos

A channel by lesbian couple Alexis and Lilian. Very cool. Offers lots of useful advice.

Many of these channels are super famous, so I’m probably not discovering those to anyone, but anyway. Here are some of my favorites, in alphabetical order:

    • AsapSCIENCE (he/him both of them) - Science education. They also have a podcast called Sidenote that supplements their channel, in which they have longer conversations around the topics of their videos or other topics, and you get to enjoy their personalities.

    • Carlos Maza (he/him) - Former Vox journalist, now turned independent. He makes amazing leftist video essays.

    • Contrapoints (she/her) - Video essays, often around online conversation topics and debates.

    • Faline San (any pronouns, but prefers he/him) - I just stumbled upon him a few days ago, and I have binged most videos on his channel. Hilarious storytelling of mostly mundane things. Great for lighthearted content.

    • Freya Holmér (she/her) - Game developement, often complicated stuff that goes way over my head, but her “Math for Game Devs” videos are a must watch for any aspiring game developer. She breaks down really complicated stuff and makes it incredibly easy to understand and apply into your games. She also streams on twitch sometimes.

    • JaidenAnimations (she/her) - Comedy animated videos, mostly around gaming or personal life storytelling. Also streams on twitch.

    • JustWrite (he/him) - Video essays about movies, and sometimes other media.

    • münecat (she/her) - More video-essays around leftist topics. Also makes music on twitch.

    • Shonalika (they/them) - Can you guess it? Yes! More video-essays! (and some music).

Off the top of my head:

    • AsapSCIENCE (Both he/him) - A nice science channel run by a gay couple
    • Jaiden Animations (she/her) - A really funny storytime animation channel. Jaiden is ace.
    • Powered By Rainbows (he/him) - This is a queer education channel, run by Matt Haslam and often featuring his husband.
    • Squaishey Quack (they/them) - A classic gaming channel, focusing mainly on Minecraft and Pikmin. Squaishey is bi, non-binary, and married to Stampy.
    • EmKay (various) - This Reddit channel features several narrators. Lexi (she/her) is trans and lesbian, and Robin (he/him) is bi.
    • Vivziepop (she/her) - The channel behind Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Vivienne Medrano is bi.
    • Hank Green (he/him) - Hank Green runs what I would describe as a misc channel. He posts commentary, gaming, and vlogs. Hank is bi.
    • Thomas Sanders (he/him) - Thomas is one of my favourite personalities. He started by making Vines, and then moved over to YouTube and TikTok. He is also active on Instagram and Tumblr. Thomas is gay.
    • Jammidodger (he/him) - Jamie does mainly Reddit and reaction content, as well as LGBTQ+ focused stuff. He’s also really wholesome. Jamie is a bi trans man.
    • One Topic At A Time (he/him) - A very wholesome Reddit and Gaming channel that ever queer person I know likes. James (OT) is not queer himself, but he is a true ally and uploads almost exclusively queer content (apart from his gaming stuff).

I also have a channel (RandomWolf) and I am non-binary and abrosexual. However, it is an archive channel and, as such, it is not even slightly LGBT-focused. Maybe I’ll do a pride video at some point, idk.

Gamechamp3000, she does a bunch of silly challenge runs of video games like beating Sly cooper without collecting coins, or beating mega man without getting hit https://youtube.com/@Gamechamp3000

Riva Vererie, she does silly little animations and explains various media in a silly way https://youtube.com/@Viva_Reverie

Melody Nosurname, she plays video games and talks about them, idk how to explain her channel lol https://youtube.com/@MelodyNosurname

Lily Simpson, she talks about trans episodes and characters portrayed in media. https://www.youtube.com/@LilySimpson

Rintaichou, used to do cosplay and general feminization tips before she transitioned, I’m not sure what she does now, but her content was good before :3 https://www.youtube.com/@rintaichou

JoCat, they make animated content and play video games https://www.youtube.com/@JoCat

JaidenAnimations, I think one of the more popular and well known ones I’ve mentioned, but she does animations mostly around video games. she’s on the Ace spectrum https://www.youtube.com/@jaidenanimations

I just realized how queer my favorites are. Mostly long form essayists, but entertainers. I’m too tired now to offer good descriptions, but they are worth it.

Jessica Kellgren-Fozard (https://www.youtube.com/@jessicaoutofthecloset) My number one feel good channel. LGBTQ+, vintage fashion, disabilities, media analysis, historical profiles, parenting tips. A lot.

Jessie Gender (https://www.youtube.com/c/lostrekkie) Nerd content, trans content, good content with kindness and nuance. Just don’t threaten her well being.

Rowan Ellis (https://www.youtube.com/@HeyRowanEllis) Media analysis focused on queer topics.

Shanspeare (https://www.youtube.com/@Shanspeare) Discussions around pop culture while being fabulous.

verilybitchie (https://www.youtube.com/@verilybitchie) Smart, funny, varied topics.

Tara Mooknee (https://www.youtube.com/@TaraMooknee) The only youtube channel written and produced by a cow.

talistheintrovert (https://www.youtube.com/@talistheintrovert) “If you like listening to people complain about things, then boy am I the channel for you!”

Princess Weekes (https://www.youtube.com/@Princess_Weekes) “Talking about pop culture, race, feminism, and other social issues with a lot of nuance and profanity.”

Khadija Mbowe (https://www.youtube.com/@KhadijaMbowe) “Cool, fun, Queer Aunty”- Their branding, “Big sister or friend their head.”- Their comment section, “A sentient garbage disposal.”- Their own words

Philosophy Tube (https://www.youtube.com/@PhilosophyTube) There’s a lot to learn, even if I personally ignore the specifics.

Maggie Mae Fish (https://www.youtube.com/@MaggieMaeFish) Perfect balance between funny and informative and unhinged. Movies from an interesting point of view.

Mia Mulder (https://www.youtube.com/@MiaMulder) Don’t care for philosophy? Some history for you.

These aren’t exactly hidden gems but I’ll mention them since I enjoy them.

PhilosophyTube is excellent at putting currently relevant events/topics into historical and philosophical context.

Any show/podcast with Alice Caldwell-Kelly is always entertaining including Trashfuture and Well there’s your problem.

Caelan Conrad, very funny and informative creator of queer leftest video essays - (I especially recommend the investigative deep dive into the origins and spread of the Terf movement)

Also James Somerton, video essays on queer media, but other issues as well.
