Single monster moderate encounter during our second game of this homebrew campaign and the monster rolled 3 natural 20’s in a roll downing 2/3 players. The third player was almost dead and grappled. Enemy had 9 hit points left and the player failed the flat check on the grapple spent their hero point and failed again. We ignored it and gave them the attack anyway because that was a tpk at that point. The had just cleared a Severe encounter like it was nothing.
