I know of the sitewide rips on TorrentGalaxy, but they don’t have the newer stuff. Any site which tracks everything that gets uploaded to it?

Honestly Nebula is like the one site I don’t mind paying for. It was like $14 a year with a CuriosityStream bundle and has so many of my favorite creators. No ads, no sponsors, no merch bullshit. I’ve more than got my money’s worth and I’ve had it for less than 6 months.

Think it depends on what you’re there for. I’ve got a number of creators I watch that are on there, and I watch a fair bit of curiosity stream, so it’s a no brainer for me too.

Bit harder to justify if you want it for a specific video or just one creator

Yeah, fair enough. Although, since I’ve subbed to Nebula I’ve found so many more high quality channels that the YouTube algo wouldn’t recommend to me. I feel like the content that I watch now is better for my brain rather than just mindless consumption. But I can totally see why someone wouldn’t be willing to shell out if they won’t spend as much time as I do and use it like a YouTube replacement.

I canceled my subscription due to the price increase. I recall it being about $10 or $12 / yr back in 2019. Right now is just too expensive

Personally, I’ve stopped watching because they’ve allowed some bad creators like Second Thought to join, and there’s no block functionality. Personally I’d prefer to not see fallacy-filled tankie propaganda in my feed

Ok, but Nebula doesn’t force content on you. Your library tab is literally only channels that you subscribe to/follow. How is that worse than any other streaming service? Netflix and Amazon and HBO have plenty of content that I dislike and I just ignore it, even when it pops up in recommended.

If you’re in the US a lot of public libraries connect with hoopla which you should be able to access for free with a library card. It gives you a set number of things you can “check out” a month depending on your library(usually around 5 or 6). This includes books, audiobooks, comics(single issues and volumes both count as a 1), and of course a week of some subscription services like nebula oddly enough. Worth checking out especially since nebula is more for independent creators to actually get paid and not big name media studio.

edit: Just double checked it isnt there. I feel like there was more last time I checked but I may have also just gotten confused with great courses plus and curiositystream which do seem to be there

Wouldn’t mind the answer to this myself. I’d be more tempted to pay for it if there wasn’t only one creator I wanted to watch and not even all of their videos :/

I found a Divolt server where some Original and Plus content is ripped and shared. Seems to be taking requests too, so probably suits your case perfectly. Be sure to thank the guy doing God’s work over there if you happen to use it

Hi, yes, this is a very good server, no bias whatsoever 😊

We do Originals, Plus, and First content. Podcasts can be requested but I’ll have to do those manually. Sometime soon we’ll also be doing Curiosity Stream, HD nebula videos (non-exclusive content but higher bitrate than on youtube), and classes (whenever yt-dlp adds support for it.) Plus a bot to automatically do requests :)

I also have a release group there called iDoISO, where we do full ISO rips of 4K and BluRay discs and “lossless” MKVs (basically no encoding whatsoever.) We don’t have a lot of releases for them right now (it’s pretty pricey even for a few 4Ks) but I’ve put a lot of time and attention to each release, so please take a look :)

If you have any questions or feedback don’t hesitate to reach out to me! (Either here, on Divolt, or over DMs!)

EDIT: oh also we have a discord server if you don’t like Divolt, just know that all the links are under b64 and idoiso isn’t on it.

I never said that, just disputing the claim that credit cards are “not usual in the civilized world”. CC is absolute the norm for mass-market b2c services, and to claim otherwise is pure ignorance

In Europe I would say debit cards are way more common than credit cards. It’s very rare to see someone paying with a credit card.

Oh sure, debit vs credit is largely a non-distinction here since debit cards are generally on the same network: Visa or less commonly MasterCard. So unless there are other business-related reasons to deny debit cards (currency conversion or cross-border regulations maybe?), they should be handled by the same processor as a credit card and usually for a much lower transaction fee too!

PayPal is mostly a CC middleman at this point, with some banking features purely so they can profit off the float of positive account balances.

PSA: don’t keep any money in a PayPal account. They can and do “freeze” accounts and unless you have a buddy who works there good luck ever seeing it again.

PayPal also supports debit cards which is great for countries where owning a credit card is rare. I don’t own a credit card and I know very few people who do.

I’m US based and always use credit cards online (and pay them off every month of course) for the strong consumer protections they offer vs debit: $0 fraud liability, extended warranties, and rewards points/travel miles.

I’m curious about your experience here: have you ever encountered a scenario where you wanted to use your debit card, but the merchant only accepted credit cards?
