Ajax has raised a fortune in player sales in the last few years, they’ve spent some too. Is this a case of player churn finally hitting a rock, that it doesn’t work all the time? How’s the youth set up these days?

How long has the Ajax academy been on a dry spell? They had been churning out quality players after another throughout all these years.

They might not be champions league quality, but surely not relegation quality either.

No they aren’t. It’s the worst Ajax squad in a while, but saying that they are playing to their level while being in the relegation zone is ridiculous

Everyone seems to perform fine in their national squads, but turn to shit when they put on an Ajax shirt. The problem is the coach, I don’t think ive seen much worse than this in the thirty years I follow football. Better coaches were sacked for less, yet Steijn is still there.

they actually do seem that bad contrary to what the thread is saying.

It’s like a youth team, a shit ton of “no-names” as harsh as that sounds who are barely starting their careers.

i recognize mainly 3-4 names and Berghuis and Akpom being your star name players means you’re in some trouble

Akpom maybe, but Berghuis has been one of the best players in the Eredivisie since he joined Feyenoord I’d say, he is absolutely top 5 in the league in terms of quality

The players might not be up to the standards of some recent Ajax squads but they can’t be that bad. I’m amazed the club’s board hasn’t booted the coach yet.

It’s not that simple but the midfield really is worse than people think. Vos might genuinely be the best midfielder in the squad. More of him and Van den Boomen is what’s needed.

Sulato looks like a legendary bust if he doesn’t gain some confidence quick.

For the past few years I’ve wanted Everton (historic club) to get relegated but they teased me. It would be fascinating to see Ajax get relegated
