Armin Papperger, CEO of the German arms concern Rheinmetall, has responded to Russian authorities that have threatened to view the concern?s future plant in Ukraine a ?legitimate target? of the Russian Federation.

Papperger is just as coked up as Putin. RM produces weapons that can take down russian drones and helicopters, but they lack weapons against higher and faster flying missiles.

Unless they suddenly, magically learned how to produce Patriot or IRIS-T SLM, they can’t keep that promise with certainty.

I think you are not really up to date on what stuff Rheinmetall produces.

They do not just produce CIWS equivalent systems but also targeting systems, laser based effectors and surface-to-air missile systems that directly integrate into all those systems.

I have this strong feeling that I in fact do.

        surface-to-air missile systems

In that regard, RM only has the the SkyKnight C-RAM (developed by the UAE) to offer, which is still in the development phase - and this is still only SHORAD.

RM has nothing in its portfolio to offer medium range protection.

Because a tank factory is a strategic target which you would use ballistic/“hypersonic” missiles for. Well aside from the propaganda value that a German tank factory was destroyed. You can safely assume that the Russians are going to use their better stuff for that factory instead of firing at civilian buildings or train stations with refugees.
