I live in an area that fights winter on the regular and ive been considering going the basement route. I can take a summer and dig 20x20x12. Concrete and 1x5 moulds to build the walls and floor. Tin roof with solar and a woodstove/minisplit for climate. when the money/the world rebounds i can go back and add a first story to the structure.

Anyone do something similar?
