They did seem to go in on him on motd.
He needs time and lot more development, he has a good base to work with, but thing is we can’t afford time because our owners scraped their early plans to buy other ST along with him. Now he and Broja (who himself needs the same time) are our only options and are under pressure. Nkunku injury put further demand on these guys producing.
But going by our luck ST we’ll buy will turn to this himself.
He needs a loan
Same could be said about Hojuland
fair and generous
Should try him in goal? That save against Liverpool was top class.
I thought Shearer was very fair, and Poch mentions that it was unfair to judge him on one game but he’s looked shite in plenty of the other ones and they didn’t even bring that up cos they were just breaking down his objectively shite performance in that particular game
He’s right
Some players need time to adjust and they deserve time and chances to find their footing, but it is also reasonable to criticise them if their performance is poor or if there is no progression in their game. Expectations are high and fans are frustrated, but most of the criticism has been quite fair so far. Shearer had a point, he wasn’t just bashing him.
He’s not a Chelsea level player. Man was moving to Bournemouth in January before a hamstring injury stopped it.
Chelsea threw all of their eggs into the “they will come good” basket and it is not going to pay off.
“Chelsea level” that’s mid table mate, he fits right in. These man don’t learn, spunk 30 million on a man because of one purple patch when he was arse beforehand. Don’t even blame him though, Chelsea ruin players.
I wouldn’t say we ruin players. But all of them are quite young and inexperienced, at this level and to the country. Chelsea are correctly a mid table team, and have been a relegation form team for a while now.
But the club implied level is top 4, so the pressure and mentality is something all the young players have to experience, work through and get better from. Sadly football isn’t football manager for us Chelsea fans. For a while now, the squad is mentally weak, and many coaches haven’t been able to find a way to break down a low block with the squad.
The worrying thing for Chelsea (and Utd) is that at the minute you look at the table and the teams above them are all solid, effective teams. It’s unlikely over the next few seasons they’ll all stay at that level of course, but even so it’s a problem.
In the past when they (or Liverpool, or Arsenal) have fallen out the top four it was very easy to see it as a blip even if the fall was heavy and somewhat prolonged. The way back up was still generally relatively clear - when Chelsea finished 10th it was still something of a joke to say they were a “mid table” side (indeed - they won it the next year!).
At the minute it’s hard to see how that is the case anymore though, the strength in depth across the top half of the league is enormous. Chelsea are currently mid table, it’s not a flippant thing to say, and they have a huge task to turn that around.
Going off my luck this means he’ll turn into drogba against spurs on Monday night
🤞🏻
Thank you for the kind words, friend
Must be hard to watch Tottenham on top of the table while he’s strughling with Chelsea.
