Hot take: if the ball counts as in there despite it being literally impossible to tell and looking out to the naked eye, either the rule should be changed or the lines should be required to have GLT all across the four lines.

It’s the only way to justify this rule. Otherwise, it should be just if the portion of the ball on the ground or something, idk how it would be worded but this rule is simply untenable

Any portion of the ball can hover of the line and it is till in. That’s the rule. VAR needs a definitive angle. There wasn’t one.

Yeah so the ref lets play go on because VAR will fix it and then VAR can’t so by default there’s more leeway for the attackers

Correct, if the ref doesn’t know something definitively, they should let play go on - no matter the case.

Yes. But then we either need VAR to actually be able to make a decision, or the ref should be allowed to make it according to his best judgement, which won’t happen; so it should be down to VAR to judge as best they can instead of clear and obvious error

I was just thinking that to your last point… crazy we can tell if the ball crosses the line for a goal, but can’t tell if the ball has gone out of play.
