I am new to cast iron cooking but I think I can answer most questions posted here. These answers cover 80% of the questions here:
You are using too much oil and too little heat. Wipe the oil off as if you didn’t want it on in the first place, then stick it in the oven.
Your pan is fine, just cook with it.
It is not ruined and worth restoring. Give it a good scrub and start using it.
Use chainmail to prevent scraping off seasoning. Just continue to cook.
Let the food cook for longer and it will not stick. If it sticks, you moved it too soon.
Get the silicone handles…
Modern soap is fine to use.
Lodge sale? I would get the lid as I already have the skillet.
