I recently watched the 7.4 livestream and, guys, I’m honestly not sure how much longer I can take this. Yet again, we get yet another small daily area for MAIN STORY PURPOSES, and if past updates are anything to go by, there is a very good chance to complete the main quest we’ll have to do some repeatable dailies.

After the Interpreter’s Retreat’s bullshit uninteresting “questline” consisting 90% of boring and needlessly complicated dailies, I’m just so tired of this. There is obviously nothing wrong with adding a daily area and having the story take place there, but it unfortunately incentivises the devs to just lazily fill the main quest with “do an x amount of random dailies” or having you do quests that are actually dailies disguises as normal quests.

I like doing dailies for conquest, but when a new update goes live, I want to do STORY missions and dailies later. I do not want to do dailies as a part of the main story because dailies and story missions are designed very differently.

I remember the first time I REALLY felt that daily filler was in SoR (a lot of it is dailies disguised as actual quests), especially on Yavin IV when instead of carrying on with the story in a normal way they have you either do an operation or a bunch of dailies (I honestly don’t see why ToS couldn’t just be a normal story mission). Doing so many dailies as a requirement to finish the main quest felt really out of place for me and took me out of the story.

Dailies were really cool when they were introduced but served a totally different purpose. Then, the devs realised they can kill two birds with one stone and just have you do dailies for the main story. Dailies don’t really require much story to be put in them (iirc the most plot-heavy daily area is Oricon) and maybe I’m expecting too much but I really think the main story quests should be more… sophisticated? Either way, it’s just not fun doing dailies when I’m expecting some actual plot. I’m probably several years too late on this but it’s really starting to bug me now :^(

Idk, guys, what are your thoughts this topic? Do you mind doing dailies or daily-adjacent quests for the main questline? Did you notice the shift to daily tasks at all?
