OH won an auction on Trademe last night and emailed the seller to arrange pickup. Seller came back saying the item had been promised to someone else. We later found the item listed on FB marketplace (not marked as sold!).

Do we have any legal standing in this situation? I know we likely won’t recieve the item if someone else had already gone and picked it up hit it feels really shitty and shady.

Is the best we can do leave negative feedback?

What avenues can we use to report the seller as dishonest etc?

I feel like the “Thanks, son’s crying now” meme as the item was for a child and were VERY lucky we didn’t tell them about it (even after “winning” the auction).
