Baby otters eat up to a quarter of their body weight a day. Otters swaddle their babies in seaweed blankets to keep them warm. Otters hold hands while napping to avoid drifting apart. A group of otters holding hands is called a “raft.” Otters sleep for 11 hours a day. Otters can keep a favorite rock for their entire lives, storing it in the pocket of skin under their arms. Otters are some of the very few mammals other than humans who use tools. Otters are amazing jugglers. Otters have the thickest fur of any other mammal.
