Hi I’m Wolfie, One of the original #AHWW collective. Not a founder, but was certainly there.
Hello and welcome :)
So you were and still are a early adopter :D!
I like to watch retro YouTubers using old tech, and sometimes I feel like I missed out. But there are people bringing back the old stuff like Protoweb, you might like that.
I used old tech because it was around at the time, I do still have three old machines, no longer in use though. If they were music related I’d have more fondness for them… No we have far better computer tech today.
I recall sitting at a desk until 3am, now I can do the same, warm in bed, on my tablet.
But I think it’s good that people are still tinkering.
AHWW? I’ve been on the internet and part of the fandom for a while, but that acronym doesn’t ring a bell…
Anyways, good to have you!
Thanks, this was when many of us were still on 28kb modems :)
I was using my Amiga A1200 to get online back then too.
I knew Katmandu too.
I’ve got Ysengrin following me at Mastodon and he’s one of the original group, he also makes Werewolf costumes. I’m not sure if he’s still there but he used to work at a tourist attraction as a Werewolf.
His page is here
Konichiwa Wolfie-san! (⌒ω⌒)ノ
Welcome to Yiffit! And what is #AHWW? (・・ ) ?
I am quiet curious now about that. Cause I have been on the net for 20 some years and never heard of #AHWW. ( ̄~ ̄;)
Alt.Horror.Werewolves it was a part of Usenet in the 90s, also an IRC channel.
In the beginning we called ourselves Weres, but over time it became Therian. I have an idea who coined the word, though I’m not certain.
Also the group was originally set up to discuss werewolves in horror films, but several in the group began talking about these feelings we were having and so the group ended up as a therian chat group instead.
