Because he won’t step down, the House will never impeach under Republican leadership, and and a 50/50 Senate will never convict him?
You want him gone? Flip the House in '24 and give Democrats a 60+ vote majority in the Senate.
Yeah but… are we sure that we really want to know!? :-(
I am not sure I can handle much more of 2024 - and it’s only <checks notes> Wednesday!
Don’t worry, it’s a U.S. election year so I am sure things will be chill and uneventful going forward.
Y-y-y-y-yeah, s-s-sure. I always love playing Russian Roulette with the country I live in! /s :-|
(I can’t find the original source of that comic - Google took me to https://blog.uvm.edu/aivakhiv/2020/06/27/russian-roulette-on-a-daily-basis/ but the DeviantArt OC page is gone)
The supreme court will need to decide a) if a former president engaged in insurrection and if b) engaging in insurrection disqualifies a person from being the president. It’ll be super chill
Also one of the Justices wives was actively helping said former president in overturning the election.
Checks notes* that Justice was Clarence Thomas.
I’m pretty sure it’s already been ruled that he participated in an insurrection (the basis of the Colorado disqualification), but he hasn’t been sentenced for it.
Crazy you elect people for life. It’s almost like it’s not democratic eh.
We don’t elect those. They are appointed by the president. Also highly undemocratic.
And the senate
The idea was to have them free from the election cycles, and the political favors that go with it. Instead some choose to owe dark money allegiance for a lifetime 😂 we’re fucked!
Yeah I know! Give them all the power and they won’t go corrupt. How can that end badly?!
SCOTUS justices have tenure, Robert.
