Currently doing Dry January as I usually do after New Year’s. Maybe I’ll do it for longer now, maybe not.

I also want to train for a marathon this year. Not sure which, but it would be nice to see if I could do it. The first test will be a ten miles in april and I’ll see where it goes.

Maybe I’ll do a physical exam somewhere soon to see what’s going on in my body. I’m not having any problems but I’m curious if things will come up.

What about you?

If one lives in a country where yearly physicals are free, it’s a no-brainer to get them every 2 years minimum.

For me, it’s to get back on the bike and reach a level of cardio fitness so I can work my blue collar job, bike to and from work, without feeling exhausted at the end of the day.

Full physicals are not that common over here. People only go if something is wrong. Health Insurance covers a lot over here but I have no idea where to ask for a physical exam lol. I should probably start with the local doc but I have mixed experiences with him so I’m hesitant.

Hmmm that’s unfortunate, the majority of the adult population in general doesn’t, especially men. It is the best way to catch serious diseases and conditions early. Here each person has a general practitioner physician that they generally have most of their life that one gets them through.

I’d love to do a 4daagse once. I used to deliver drinks to bars for one of my previous jobs and I always had to go to Nijmegen at night during the 4daagse. Seemed like a fun happening.

I would like to train for a triathlon. My weakest area is the swimming. Cardio would have to be improved heavily for that along with shoulder strength.

GL on the marathon comrade… how are you training for it?

My goals are to maintain my regular schedule of 4 days a week, and try to do a lot more sprint interval training (SIT).

I am currently doing research on training programs. You should be able to train for a marathon in around 20 weeks and since most marathons are somewhere in september-october I should have time to see what I will do.

What is sprint interval training like? I used to be able to sprint very fast but I kind of lost it in recent years. I would love to work on it again.

Nice, u got plenty of time then.

Sprint interval training is where instead of running for 30+ mins at like 60% , you go at max for like 15-20s, then do walk cool-down, for 2-4m. There’s some evidence that it burns more fat in less time spent overall. I look like someone running from the cops when I do it tho lol.

Even if you’re training for a marathon, it’s supposed to be good for you (in conjunction with long distance running of course).

Some plans and more resources on it:

It’s a good thing to train for running away from cops.

Anyway, thanks for the tips I’ll check em out

Hi! In my case, I am trying to improve by putting on some muscles so my health goals this year will be to keep improving my diet and to stay constant on my gym training.

Since I left the city, I probably end up only drinking 3-4 times a year, so that’s been an inadvertent benefit. I like to drink on occasion still, but I have a general policy of never drinking at home. Since I can’t go out much here, it naturally limits itself.

Active goals, I have been trying to get my weight back to what I was when I was in university (around 48 kg). Technically it might be a little bit low for my height, but I always felt most comfortable at that weight. I definitely have gained some weight as I have gotten older though.
