Samsung aren’t saying that they will charge for Galaxy AI feature but the fine print says the following:

“Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply for AI features provided by third parties.”

No solid info yet but that’s the assumption. AI services generally are quite expensive and even though some of the features are performed on device, some appear to be cloud based.

Considering that the AI services are all Google-branded (everything had the Bard logo), I would assume after that it’ll transition to a token system like other services. Perhaps the tokens replenish after a while for things like googling (that’s roughly what Microsoft does with their rewards points shop).

I thought Gemini nano was supposed to run on device but the article is saying it’s cloud based?

“The translation features and some others work fully on-device, but some of the more impressive demos, like Generative Edit and transcription run through the cloud”
