The way I do it:
I only work for companies that state up front “We pay X for this role, will raise that to X+y next year, and to X+z if you acquire qualification Z.”
Those also happen to be the companies that are unionized.
Boggles my mind how many companies still think they can invite me to multiple hour-long interviews and a trial workday before even telling me how much they’re going to pay me.
