It’s frankly shocking how bad they are at their overt manipulation. This is probably on purpose, for the same reason that spam emails are so poorly done and have so many misspellings. They want to get the people who are not attentive to details, because they are easier to manipulate.

Well im somewhat new on Lemmy so i cant speak with full certainty, but given the replies i was getting to what i commented on this same news piece there… yeah, it’s pretty trolltastic.
I can’t remember if they’re actually pro-Russia, but I chose an instance that doesn’t federate with Hexbear for exactly the reason that I don’t have to see their trolling. Reddit was nicer once CTH got banned and Lemmy is much better without Hexbear.

No, this plays into Trump’s campaign messaging. He himself is running on being the “drain the swamp” guy that will be unpredictable and do things differently from other presidents. Putin is just agreeing with that messaging in a roundabout way.
