Hello, yesterday I installed LineageOS 21 on my phone. It seems like everything is working fine, except that when I open a video with the official YouTube app or using ReVanced, after a few seconds, the video image freezes, but the audio continues. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a solution? In the meantime, I’m using Tubular, and it works fine. Thank you

I only ever use Tubular which, as you say, works fine.

Are you running a VPN? Or a DNS adblock? Maybe the official YouTube app can tell you’re doing that (or not running some background Google service) & is trying to punish you?

One other thought: could it be related to hardware acceleration? Is there a setting somewhere where you can turn on/off access to hardware acceleration for certain apps? If so, maybe the official YouTube app had it turned off?

No, i am not using VPN or DNS at the moment. I can’t find any hardware acceleration config either. I’m starting to think it may be due to some problem with MindTheGapps

Did you dirty flash over an existing build? Sometimes libraries change behavior between major versions, and your installed apps are still expecting the old behavior.

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling YouTube, see if that helps?

Maybe relevant, maybe not but I have a video streaming app for live video from IP cams that started acting up after I upgraded to LOS21. It kept crashing and force closing after a few seconds of video from the 4k cameras. Eventually the app popped up a toast telling me to uninstall it and reinstall from the Play Store. I did as it suggested and its been pretty stable since.

I’ve also noticed my Nvidia Shield has been freezing on YouTube co tent a bit more often lately, and that uses all stock code, no mods at all. Maybe YouTube are making changes served side, and its just coincidental…
