I am enamored with the idea of hosting a tiki party for my friends. Have you ever hosted one? What was it like? Any tips?
I have a couple times! Both times it was a lot of fun. We did drinks in rounds where everyone got the same drink. That way I wasn’t stuck making drinks the entire time. But I think the biggest thing is making sure there is plenty of water and food. Tiki drinks can be really strong and really hit hard. We did it as an actual dinner rather than snacks, which is a great time to bring out a punch!
Dinner and rounds of drinks is a good idea!
For my first luau, I bought some bamboo poles and cheap thatch and turned the kitchen into a tiki bar. Put some torches outside, string lights all over, made a few decorations, got an exotica playlist going, and put out Hawaiian food. Pre-batches a few gallons of mai tai, and it was a ton of fun.
Not a great photo, but it’s the only one I’ve got of the kitchen.
Very cool!
