Great! I’ve been saying it a long time that Lewis needs to stop complaining about the lack of diversity and do this exact thing for minority and under privileged kids.

It’s tiring when people say Hamilton does nothing and doesn’t actually push for change. It’s completely unfounded.

Tbh I don’t know why your first reaction to hearing about the good that Chadwick has done is to immediately shit on Lewis.

E: in 2021 he also started a charity called Mission 44, which mainly aims to help poor kids get good education and help them attain employment in STEM and motorsport. I completely forgot about that.

Half of These are literally Lewis lobbying for something, not Lewis doing something on his own. Which is perfectly fine in itself, but not a good reply to accusations that he doesnt do things himself.

The commission is the correct answer.

Lobbying the FIA and teams to do something is doing something.

There’s this weird expectation that Lewis needs to directly, alone, solve any injustices in motorsport that seemingly doesn’t extend to other drivers, or even to FOM or the FIA.

Why? It seems totally unreasonable an expectation for a driver.

E: I completely forgot, he also started another charity called Mission 44, which mainly focuses on helping poorer kids.

Like I said: I think it’s absolutely legit to lobby the FIA and teams/organizers to do better.

But it’s not the thing people mean when they say “Lewis should do better”. And yes, it’s weird that people have this opinion.

What do people mean when they say Lewis should do better though?

Like that he should quit and make the charities his full-time job, as opposed to leaving the running of it to other, more qualified, people?

              Open more charities?

Something else? I dunno. Most of the time it’s just people erroneously saying he doesn’t actually do anything.

                Yeah.

I think some people draw parallels to Seb quitting which was - at least in Germany - debated as him going away for moral reasons and doing environmental work instead.

Who has more money to start up a karing league, Lewis Hamilton or Jamie Chadwick?

Lewis could start up dozens of karting tracks and subsidize karts and everything for plenty of kids at each, covering all travel expenses between them, and never even know the money is gone.

And I’m a huge fan of Lewis. I just think that sometimes he needs to put his money where his mouth is.
