Alabama is only as red as it is because politics lag behind current political beliefs. The Mercedes plant in Vance is sandwiched between the two bluest cities in Alabama, which are Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. It’s not surprising that a plant in such an area would see a majority liberal, or at least anti-conservative workforce.
The state overall is still extremely conservative, but it’s getting better year by year. I have hope for it yet.
