Title, basically. I often see the advice to grow flowers from seeds for breeding hybrid colors, because they have identical genotypes, whereas wild flowers have different genotypes even when they’re the same color.
But what genotypes do they have? Do they always have a single gene for their color and no genes for the other colors (e.g., a “100” or “r” genotype for a red tulip seed)? Do some flowers differ from this? Is there a list somewhere?
Perfect, exactly what I was looking for.
