Not sure when this happened, but I just noticed I can’t download any torrents or magnet links on 1337x without clicking Download without VPN.

At first, I wasn’t even seeing the bottom half of that popup since uBlock was blocking it. When I added a custom rule to block the popup, that totally broke the download buttons, so I had to disable uBlock.

Is anyone else noticing this? I’m not going to disable my adblocker on freaking 1337x, I’ll just stop going to 1337x 😆

Unless that’s some error, what were they thinking?

ALWAYS, use an adblocker when you are on the high seas.

Oh no the adblocker makes it worse here actually. It just blocks the buttons but the popup still appears and has no x button to close it.

This was an an insanely garbage attempt from 1337x to push their own VPN harder.

I have UBO and had to disable it, refresh the page, then re-enable it, and refresh the page again and even then I still get the popup but at least it gives me the option to click download anyway. Maybe it’s a browser thing, maybe it’s an IP address thing. I dunno but it’s buggy as hell and super unreliably coded.

Today got that, I can’t copy magnet. No need to disable UBO, just did “block element”, that created in my filters:

            1337x.to###freevpnBG

            And now works as expected.

Yup, you got it! I had to tweak the filter a bit: 1337x.to###freevpn was what worked for me.

The UBO UI is really bad, always has been. Just awful. It’s easy to miss customizing the rule once you select the element.

Pretty ironic that out of every reply in the thread, yours is the best answer and has no upvotes. Much appreciated!

Hey just a heads up but I personally am a big fan of using QBtorrent as it has an internal search function that lets you search all kinds of sites and get the magnet links without even ever opening the website and if you want to you can right click and have it open the webpage anyways to double check the torrent.

Also I was able to add Nyaa as a search option so searching for anime has been a lot easier.

I had to help someone with this website crap just earlier today and will keep recommending using QBtorrent because of this.

Excuse my ignorance but I can’t find the search function in qB that you’re talking about. Assuming I have downloaded the most recent version of qB, where would I find it?

Ignorance is totally fine and it’s insane they don’t make it easier to find since it’s so helpful.

So it’s actually enabled via the “View” drop down menu.
Will actually be the option that says “Search Engine”

And from there you should just see a little tab appear at the top underneath the quick action buttons called search with a magnifying glass.

Bottom right of the screen has the abilities to add more search sites via plugins and are really easy to import directly from URL and I like to keep my search just to enabled sites because some of them are in foreign languages.

Let me know if you need more help.

Hey, thanks for the assist. I got it working just fine, I’m really impressed with the function. Been using qB for years and had no idea this thing was even there. This is a real game changer, thanks again.

            I’m glad!

It’s really actually quite usable, like actually I think I use it more than any other search or site.

I honestly don’t know why it’s not on from the start other than maybe like a legal thing “oh they have to enable the piracy”.

Yeah it’s hidden but not. Super weird because it’s so darn good at it’s job.

It’s under the “View” drop down menu as “Search Engine” and it literally just adds a tab to let you search and import torrents right in the software.

Nyaa I think I needed to add it as a plugin but there is actually a super convenient little button on the bottom right of the search tab called “Search Plugins” which has a link to all of them and then you just install it via the URL copy and pasted into the box.

Takes like maybe 2-3 minutes if you know where all the buttons are so maybe assume 15 just for the shock value of never knowing this existed and figuring out the button placement but very low effort.

Let me know if you need help finding the buttons or anything.

Skip Jackett and go for Prowlarr. It’ll integrate directly into the *arr suite if you wind up using them later (you should) and gets regular updates. A lot of trackers stopped working with Jackett for me and it doesn’t get updated often.

Wait is that yet another torrent search tool that then gets searched through the built in torrent search tool? What?

I don’t get the purpose of all these middle-man apps, am I too old for this?

Its a centralized search engine to search all your desired trackers, both public and private. QBit search only searches DEX and PHP (or whatever the acronyms are) so you have no real control over where the files are coming from.

Prowlarr is a better option than Jackett and will integrate better into stuff like radarr (movies) and sonarr (tv shows) if you ever want to automate the whole acquisition process.

Oh do you know that QB offers plugins for public and private sites? I don’t have any private ones but they have a bunch. Plus you can actually search specific sites there is a whole menu for it. Totally doable if maybe a bit clunky I guess.

Yeah I don’t get the Arrs.
I guess it would help with the shows that drop weekly but it’s honestly a bit fun to hunt for them.

To add onto this, jdownloader has that feature too. It’s a download manager, so no torrents, but you can plug a link and it will crawl for downloadable files. Also, if your Internet is spotty, it autocontinues downloads that fail. It’s easily the most useful tool on my PC.

My secret tip: go to inspect element, search the box that has the link and copy the embedded link. You are welcome ;)

Edit: Also do all of that from tor. Once you got the link you can go back to your torrent client.

Prowlarr is good because it combines usenet indexers and torrents. Makes it very easy to search for anything and compare versions/sources.

It also integrates into the rest of the *arrs so you don’t have to then manually add all the exact same indexers into radarr, sonarr, lidarr, etc, which is always something that rubbed me the wrong way with jackett.

Your comment made me check to see if the Jackett 1337x plugin was still asking me to install flaresolverr or whatever the fuck ever. And hey! It had stopped doing that, so I re-enabled it.

Jackett is absolutely awful software and is rickety as fuck, but as long as that plugin works, it’s the best solution.

I use .to and its been doing the same thing, I just pres ESC key then click it again, and do that a couple times, also for a while I had to right click the magnet button and open in new tab, but that methods not working rn
