AFAIK Mexico is also a settler colony, there’s presumably a landback movement there as well
Mexico is NOT a settler colony. The Mexico of the 1800s was in constant war after many attempts of the US, the spanish and the french to recolonize the country. It was born out of the struggle of indigenous people against spanish colonization. The many contradictions of the time led to a century of chaos across the country and constant invasions by the US, the spanish and the french and each would be met with fierce resistance by the people and leaders like Benito Juarez which himself was an indigenous man. This chaos would only end in the violent “peace” of Diaz and the mexican bourgeoisie in collaboration with the international bourgeoisie of the US and France, but that would only be the cause of an even more intensified struggle that ended in the Revolution of 1910. The revolutionaries of the time after the revolution were a mixed bag, but thanks to people like Villa, Zapata or Cardenas many agrarian movements achieved huge gains in favor of the indigenous people. Today Mexico is still struggling against capital and US domination. We are a multinational country in which the majority at the very least are mestizos descended from indigenous people that were never exterminated by the spanish. Unlike the US where white people achieved ethnic hegemony thanks to genocide and slavery.
“Every island territory independent” should probably become an union/confederation.
Guam and the CNMI should reunite and be their own country first
Did Guam have a history with CNMI in the past?
Yeah, they’re the same people (Chamorro).
Mexico was a conquistador colonial state. They had no claim on any of their modern day United States land. That land should also be Native American Territory, along with Florida.
Latin America countries has less severe history of racial genocide compared to Canada and the USA which makes them less priority for anti-colonization. Mexico is now under the control of mostly mixed Indigenous people unlike the USA and Canada that massacre their mixed Indigenous population along with the Indigenous people. Mexico also did not seem to enslave and massacre their Indiegnous people in fake schools in a large scale during the Cold War unlike the USA and Canada.
All these territories USA stole from Mexico, like 10 states in 1800s. Whole Canada is Native American also.
Yes I agree, but Mexico at that time was also a expansionist and colonialist state that inherited its land from the Spanish Empire, and routinely subjugated and suppressed indigenous populations.
Neither Mexico or the US are good in this scenario. The land you gave to Mexico should be independent.
Same with giving Alaska to Russia. Russia has no claim on the land and it should belong to the native population and be independent. Russia has as much of a claim on Alaska as the US has on Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
This is Mexico today, not 1800s Mexico.
Alaska was Russian until tsar who like all other tsars was brilliantly competent and sold territory larger than Texas 7 million to USA, Alaska would be SSR when USSR reforms.
Alaska was not Russian. Alaska was colonized by an imperialist power to exploit its natural resources.
Also you cannot claim to say that we are going off modern day Mexico and then immediately say that Alaska should be given to modern day Russia on the off chance the USSR reforms.
You also didn’t answer my question of why shouldn’t the land you gave to Mexico not be independent indigenous territory? Mexico only had that land due to inheriting it from the Spanish Empire, so why should they get it back? Why not make it independent?
