Yeah, idk, I don’t know if the woman who grabs Uncle Joe’s arm and pulls him over, and he leans in so she can speak in to his ear, idk if she thinks that guy is a god-like unapproachable tyrant would would as soon shoot your as look at you. Looks like pretty comradely, familiar behavior to me.

It’s weird seeing Joe and other Soviets just doing their thing, looking like real people and not propaganda caricatures.

Smh, you silly tankie. Have you even considered that all those people were paid actors and this entire photoshoot was actually staged to look like a real photoshoot in which Stalin is approachable? Yeah, I didn’t think so. smuglord

Despite the Director being kind of lib, this is why I like recommending Aim High in Creation as the director visits with DPRK folks who aren’t typically the face of the country to tourists. They’re people that are just there to do their job and end up behaving much more candidly on camera; Drinking and smoking and shooting the shit.

I streamed this for some friends recently after it was recommended here and one of them kept saying “I didn’t know they had that” when it showed shots of people at the amusement park on rides and things like that. I don’t know if they’ll remember it after today, but a seed may have been planted.

That girl looked really into him and DTF and probably yes his political status and social stature played into that. But Stalin seemed to politely not reciprocate while also enjoying the attention.

The worst I see in this video is that Stalin didn’t have the self-consciousness to understand why a man shouldn’t be guest of honor at a women’s forum, so ok a ding thing but at the risk of moral relativism it was the fucking 1930s and he was hosting special forums for social groups facing labor discrimination holy shit that’s still better than 99.9% of the US elite.

And secondly he definitely was enjoying the attention but that girl was definitely into him, and he was known to be a rogue in his 20s and to be a real charmer so maybe my bro gotta learn there’s a time and a place to get tail and a women’s focus group ain’t that place.

As good as a lib can. She’s kind of rude to the North Koreans at times, but I think that’s just a hazard of her being a westerner raised on western propaganda. It is a good movie, that despite repeating some propaganda about the DPRK, does help humanize and present them in a reasonably positive light. It’s also a good movie in that there’s a lot of meta layers going on in the presentation of the documentary and the inner movie the documentary is about.
